While formal coaching is not yet available at the club there are plenty of experienced players only too happy to advise and help you in improving your technique, knowledge of the game, etc....just ask in person or email the club.

The coaching materials below may help you address a particular issue you are having...please feel free to feedback if helpful or not.  Hopefully more will be added at a later date.

Triangle Drill

Triangle Drill

When learning to play your own green it is helpful to focus on specific areas which 'become your marks' or areas of the green at which you are very familiar in playing. This drill identifies three marks which you should practice and practice until you know them inside-out and back-to-front.... when you play in a match you will have a distinct advantage over your opponent!

Traverse 1

Traverse 1

Getting to know your own green is important as it gives you an advantage over your visiting opponents. This drill will also encourage you to play many different marks over varying types of land.

Traverse 2

Traverse 2

Playing the edges or sides can be a counter-ploy especially when playing at away greens. This drill will help you in both knowing your own green's edges and in grooving your technique to play straight marks.

Firing and Controlled weight progression drill

Firing and Controlled weight progression drill

Being able to fire your opponent's woods away from the block or even taking the block also, is an important weapon to have in your arsenal. It can be very disheartening for your opponent if they have two winning bowls in place and you fire them off. Be careful as this can be dangerous if you dont take care so do not practice this drill if there are other users oor people on or around the green.
